Back to Basics: How Much Water Should You Really Drink?

“She’s so THIRSTY.” Well actually...chances are, you ARE. In fact, if you are feeling thirsty, it’s possible your body has already lost 1 to 2 percent of its water content.

When it comes to hydration, there are MANY factors that can contribute to your personal hydration levels, but here is a good baseline to start with:

-WOMEN: 11.5 cups or 2.7 liters or 91.26 oz of fluids/day

-MEN: 15.5 cups or 3.7 liters or 125.06oz of fluids/day

Who really wants to measure out their water all day, though? Not me! An easy way for me to keep track is to consider how many times I refill my favorite water bottle each day. My Hydroflask is 32oz, so if I drink about three of them a day, I know I’m in the clear.

And speaking of clear, a simple way to tell if your body is hydrated enough is to take a look at your urine. A lovely pale yellow is an indicator of adequate hydration (clear = too much water, dark yellow = not enough). Honestly, put your phone down and go grab a glass of water.
