Back to Basics: Stress’s Effect on the Body
Nutrition, exercise, hydration, and sleep are all wonderfully beneficial, but if there is one thing I recommend working on for improved overall health, it’s your stress levels.
Stress impacts your whole body: your nervous system, your mental health, and your physical health. Common side effects include:
-headache
-anxiety
-undereating/overeating
-muscle tension/pain
-sleep problems
-chest pain
-fatigue
-sadness/depression
-lack of motivation and/or focus
-weight gain/weight loss
What helps mitigate stress is movement, spending time with loved ones, practicing relaxation techniques, and spending time on your hobbies. A great first step to managing stress is being able to recognize it in your life, body, and mind.
